Door Supervisor Course Enhanced

Train for the Career, Not Just the Licence

Contact us today for more information

If you are looking for an Enhanced Door Supervisor Course that gives you more than a qualification and a certificate, the Shield Security Career Pathway is designed with your long-term career in mind. Our Shield Door Supervisor Course Enhanced is designed for those who want to build a long-term career in private security, rather than simply complete a course and collect a certificate.

Your initial training will combine two recognised qualifications:

  • Highfield SIA licence-linked Door Supervisor qualification
  • Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3)

Together, these qualifications provide a foundation in frontline security and enhanced emergency care. Following your training, we continue to support your development through SIA licensing guidance, entry into the security industry and an approximately 12-month professional development framework to build genuine operational experience, professional references, CPD and evidence of reliability and conduct before considering further specialist progression.

The course price is £775 + VAT and includes the two recognised qualifications, face-to-face practical

training, SIA licensing guidance and access to the Shield 12-month career-development pathway.

Our pathway is built around a simple philosophy: Train for the career, not just the licence.

FREC 3: Your Enhanced Emergency-Care Training

Security professionals can work in environments where they may be among the first people available when an accident, injury or medical emergency occurs. For that reason, we have deliberately chosen to include the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) as part of the Career Pathway.

FREC 3 provides practical first-response knowledge and skills in areas including:

  • Patient assessment
  • Airway management
  • Life-threatening bleeding
  • Trauma
  • Medical emergencies
  • Communication
  • Handover
  • Practical first-response procedures

Shield’s planned quality standard is a maximum of six learners per FREC practical instructor. This is designed to protect the amount of practical instructor contact, coaching and repetition each learner receives. Where required, additional instructor capacity or staggered attendance will be used rather than increasing practical group sizes.

Your First 12 Months in the Security Industry

What to Expect

The Shield Security Career Pathway does not treat the first 12 months after training as a waiting period. This is the stage where you begin to turn qualifications into genuine security-industry experience and to build evidence of your professional development.

0-3 Months: Become Licensed & Enter the Industry

The first three months focus on progressing towards your SIA licence and entering security work where opportunities are available.

You can begin developing the professional standards expected within the industry, including:

  • Punctuality
  • Reliability
  • Professional presentation
  • Communication
  • Understanding site procedures
  • Working effectively as part of a security team

3-6 Months: Building a Consistent Employment Record

Between three and six months, the focus moves towards building a consistent employment record. This may include developing experience in:

  • Conflict management
  • Searching
  • Access control
  • Incident reporting
  • Communication
  • Following operational procedures

6-9 Months: Strengthen Your Professional Profile

As your experience grows, you can continue developing your professional profile. Where opportunities allow, this may include working across different sites or environments, developing stronger situational awareness, improving incident reporting and taking greater responsibility within your role.

9-12 Months: Prepare for Career Review

Towards the end of your first year, the focus shifts to reviewing what you have achieved and preparing for a career review. By this stage, you should be working towards building evidence of:

  • Employment history
  • Operational experience
  • Reliability
  • Professional conduct
  • CPD
  • Supervisor feedback
  • Professional references

At approximately 12 months, Shield can review your development with you and discuss potential next steps. The purpose is simple: your first year in security should not just give you time in the industry. It should give you something meaningful to put on your CV.

Build A Stronger CV Before Close Protection

Close Protection is a long-term career goal for many people entering the security industry. However, completing a Close Protection qualification does not automatically give you operational experience, an employment history or professional references.

At Shield Security Solutions, we believe there is value in gaining your initial qualifications, progressing towards your SIA licence and spending time working within the security industry before making the next major investment in specialist training. Our objective is to help you build the experience and professional profile that can make your next qualification more meaningful.

Supporting Veterans Through Commercial Training

The Shield Security Career Pathway has been designed to create opportunities for veterans as the commercial training programme grows. For every 12 paying learners, Shield intends to fund two veteran places on the same Career Pathway. At our planned maximum of 24 paying learners per month, this creates up to four funded veteran places. At full planned annual capacity, this could provide up to 48 funded veteran places each year.

These are not reduced or separate training places. Funded veterans will receive the same qualification pathway, training standards and development framework as paying learners.

As our commercial training grows, our ability to support veterans can grow with it. Commercial training creates opportunity. Opportunity creates training. Training can lead to licensing, employment, experience and future progression.

FAQs

What qualifications are included?

The Shield Security Career Pathway includes the Qualsafe Level 3 Award in First Response Emergency Care (FREC 3) and the Highfield SIA licence-linked Door Supervisor qualification. These form the initial security and emergency-care foundation of the pathway.

How much does the course cost?

The course price is £775 + VAT. This includes the initial training and access to the Shield 12-month career-development pathway.

Do I receive my SIA licence when I pass?

No. Your qualification and your SIA licence are separate. After successfully completing the relevant licence-linked qualification, you can progress towards an SIA licence application, subject to meeting the Security Industry Authority’s requirements. The SIA makes the final licensing decision.

Does the course guarantee me a job?

No. Shield supports learners in developing towards genuine security-industry opportunities, but employment cannot be guaranteed. Your conduct, reliability, availability, performance, employer requirements and available opportunities will all affect your employment prospects.

What happens after I complete the course?

The next stage is to progress towards your SIA licence and begin building genuine security-industry experience. Learners who remain engaged with Shield can use the approximately 12-month development pathway to build their employment history, CPD, professional references and wider professional profile.

Do I have to wait exactly 12 months before progressing?

No. The 12-month period is a development framework rather than an automatic progression date. Your actual experience, conduct, references, CPD, medical currency, career objectives and suitability should determine when further progression is appropriate.

Can I progress into close protection?

Potentially. Close Protection is an important progression route within the Shield model, but it is not automatic. Shield can review your experience and professional development with you before deciding whether Close Protection is an appropriate next step.

Does FREC 3 make me a medic?

No. FREC 3 provides an additional Level 3 emergency-care qualification and broader first-response capability within your training and scope. Shield does not describe every FREC 3 holder as a designated medic.

Will FREC 3 help if I later progress into close protection?

It may. An appropriate and valid Level 3 first-aid qualification may satisfy a future Close Protection medical prerequisite where it meets the requirements in force at that time. Shield will check the current requirements when you reach the progression stage rather than promising this in advance.

Do you offer funded places for veterans?

Yes. Shield’s planned model funds two veteran places for every 12 paying learners. Funded veterans receive the same qualification pathway, training standards and development framework as commercial learners.

How do I apply?

Submit your application or enquiry to Shield Security Solutions. Before enrolment, you will receive the relevant course information, entry requirements, joining instructions and details of the documentation required.
